Some updates
- I released two short new poems, “Manifestation” and “Accretion.” Probably more to come soon. Hopefully more stories soon, too.
- Slowly, slowly, I’ve been working toward completing at least one piece of art for each passage in the New Testament Doctrinal Mastery list, and now we’re down to only two left. Since January, by the way, I’ve silently released new art here and there — twenty-three new pieces — without murmuring a word about it on this blog. I don’t remember my reason for being furtive. I think it was just an experiment to see what it was like.
- After writing that post on homegrown apps, I’ve grown mildly obsessed with simplifying my apps, both technically (simpler architecture and code) and as a system (by having fewer apps). I made plans to rewrite Liszt in Go, using plain text files as the backing store instead of SQLite, but then had an epiphany and realized I could manage my to-do list in Codex instead. (This is Codex my notes app, now in dire need of a name change to avoid confusion with OpenAI’s thing.) I unofficially retired Liszt yesterday and have been trying the new method, and I think that while it’s different from what I had before, overall it’s simpler (each day gets its own note, and the list is just Markdown with some annotations) and is going well. This moves me another (admittedly fairly large) step toward just using paper for my to-do lists, which I suspect is where I’ll end up.
- For my current daily reading goals, I try to read fifty pages each from the three books I’ve been reading the longest, and ten pages each from the rest. It continues to amaze me how even a long book like War & Peace melts away in the face of fifty pages per day.
