Anne Trubek’s advice on how to read more, for pleasure. Hear, hear. Some nerdy/rambly responses to a few of the points:
- I belong to a couple very small book clubs and enjoy them at least in part because they inject a bit of contamination into my reading, introducing me to books I would never have chosen on my own, books that often expand my world. Sure, some have turned out to be duds, but most haven’t. (I suspect, by the way, that the duds don’t bother me because the book clubs are a small part of my reading and aren’t the majority.)
- I also do most of my reading while lying down, thanks to ye olde lovely back and neck pain.
- I primarily read on my phone in Scroll, but I should probably pull out my Kobo Libra and try it again.
- My current reading goal is a minimum of 100 pages a day (skipping Sundays), with a stretch goal of 150 pages if things are going well. I also try to read at least 10 pages a day from each book I’m reading, to keep my momentum on all of them. I often fail at all of these goals. But sometimes I don’t.
