In which I establish my über-nerdhood. Here, dear reader, are my books:
Mmm.
(Yes, yes, the black gaps are a little hideous, but I didn’t spend a whole lot of time throwing this together. And you’d be amazed at how slow your computer gets when you’re working on a file that large.)
If you’re bookish like me and want to see the titles, you can click on the image to see the full image (all 13,176×9,300 pixels of it). But be careful! It’s huge! (40 megs.) It’ll probably slow down your browser a ton, so I’d recommend right-clicking and saving to your desktop first, then viewing it there.
I should mention as well that my catalog is online at LibraryThing.
Let the psychoanalysis begin. ;)

Your poor, poor roommates…
Total number of books?
I know. :) The grand total is 1,072 (I’ve got two I haven’t added to LibraryThing yet), 86 of which are in my cubicle at work since I’m (ahem) running out of room at home.
Wow. Those are all yours!?
They sure are. :)
I gave in to shop at IKEA because they displayed their bookshelves WITH BOOKS on them! Even going across the door frame. Congratulations! BTW there’s a chat on Salon.com about people like you. You know you’re a bookish geekish sort when….
Just sayin’
All I can say is…how do I sign up for a library card?
Drat, I only have 738. Then again, I don’t buy two, three, or four versions of the same book. :-P
My goodness, but you are studious. :)
I’ll know who to turn to if I ever need something wonderful.
That may be quite possibly the most delicious thing I’ve seen in quite awhile. I’m jealous. Most of my books are at home in Virginia rotting away in the attic where my mother has stored all of my stuff. Boo. Also, meela is right. Shop at IKEA. The place is made for people living with too much stuff (*ahem* books) in too little space. Also, I love IKEA. It’s something about how I’m actually an old person and just pretend to be 20 while I clip coupons and read the grocery ads.
Lovely.
Someday I’ll be like you– those bookshelves are fantastic!
meela: Luckily my parents had some extra bookshelves I was able to get. I need to buy another shelf sometime, though…
Tristin: Lol, I actually made library cards once and gave them out. But you can borrow books anytime.
Connor: I like me some Jane Eyre. :P
Ashley: Well, I’ve only read maybe 20% of them, so maybe not quite studious, but yes, there are many wonderful books in there. :)
Ginger: Haha, I’ve never actually been to IKEA, but I’m thinking this will need to change. I did leave around 300 books at home when I moved out, many years ago. But I’ve made up the difference in spades. :)
e: Thanks. :)
Jaclyn: Thanks, and I’m happy in advance for you. :)
I did spot your Welch copy of Harry Potter in one of the piles…
Yes indeed. :)
Ha, I was glad to see you say you’ve read only 20% or so, that makes me feel so much better about myself. (I have a ton of books, too, and I always feel kind of guilty that I haven’t read them all.) When people come over to your place, do they always comment on the sheer volume? Freshman year I was rooming with Secily Saunders and we cracked up about our home teachers because every month they said the exact same thing: “Woah, that’s a lot of books… have you read all those?” I had to answer “no” all seven visits.
Haha, yes, I get the same questions — “Those are all yours?” and “How many have you read?” I love having hundreds of unread books in my house — my five-year supply of book storage, in case the libraries ever go down. ;)
