What holidays are good for

It’s always a little weird returning to real life after the holidays. Except in this case, it’s only a temporary return for a few days before we’re plunged into yet another holiday. And I’m cool with that. (As a student, I used to bemoan the fact that we only got two weeks off for Christmas break. Now that I’ve graduated and am working full-time, I only get two days off, plus another two for New Year’s. I am no longer complaining. ;))

Anyway, the first half of my holidays has been filled with delightful stretches of reading, hours and hours of it. Ordinarily I can’t wait for the holidays to be over so I can get back to the business of living (so maybe I’m a bit of a scrooge in that regard), but this time I’m more than happy to have another long weekend off so I can finish even more books. The only pity is that it’ll already be the new year, so they won’t help me reach my goal for 2008. (Not that I’m even close. But more on that in a few days.) (And no, it’s not really about the numbers. :))
