And the sky came crashing down

So Washington Mutual crashed a couple hours ago. This string of bank failures is getting unsettling to say the least. (If you’re wondering what’s going on, Freakonomics has a good layman’s explanation.)

And can I just say that Paulson’s plan is creepy? “Without limitation”? “May not be reviewed”? Crazy.

Paulson’s plan is quite terrifying; fortunately, there is no way Congress is going to let him by with it. You should check out Paul Krugman’s article that just went up within the last few hours. (He’s a NYT columnist). Thanks for the heads up- while I would have heard about WaMu tomorrow while streaming NPR on my computer, it is evening here, and I generally only listen to the news during the morning and afternoon. Whereas I check my reader incessantly.

The sky crashing down sure vindicates those who have been screaming “the sky is falling!” for years, largely ignored by the masses. Not that that helps anything. It’s a sad day in America right now.

Sherry: The Internet’s great for getting up-to-date news. And Twitter’s king at that, really. (That’s how I found out.)

Connor: All too true. It’s sad that it has to turn out that way. (Human nature and all.)

Dangerous, to be sure. I’m hoping the House will kill the bill again. It’s interesting that Ron Paul saw all of this coming— and it’s just now that people are starting to listen to him.

Very true. Let it be known: I voted for Ron Paul in the primaries. :)
