Just out of curiosity, what kinds of things do you come here to read? Or rather, which subjects are you most interested in? A mostly silent audience makes it hard to judge what’s worth writing and what’s not. (Of course I have my own ideas on that, which is the reason I write this blog, but I’d like to see what you think.) Any ideas for improvement? Any things you particularly like? Shorter posts? Longer posts? Less humor, more starch? More detail? Less philosophizing? More original material? More what’s-going-on-in-the-world?
Note that this doesn’t mean I’m selling out or striving for the praise of the world or anything like that. But it’s nice to have an idea what y’all find interesting.
Now, I’ve figured out that the best way to elicit comments is to say something controversial. Um, let’s see… How about this: historical and astronomical evidence has proven that seven billion years ago a huge comet crashed into Jupiter, flinging debris away millions of miles away, and a strange magnetic field emanating from Pluto froze the debris into Earth, Mars, and the asteroid belt.
Okay, maybe not. :)
Well, anyway, I do want to hear what you think. (By the way, this science fiction stuff is kind of fun… ;))

You and I share a lot of interests. Lingustics, language, books, genealogy, Internet/web stuff, religion, etc. I come (via Bloglines) because you often have interesting things to say about things I’m also interested in. I’m an idea person myself, I like thinking outside the box, and and thinking about useful combininations of new technologies.
Wow. That is one of the most…interesting theories for the formation of the solar system I’ve heard. Write what you wish, though, and your audience will find you soon enough.
I like profound thoughts comments on life.
I have been reading your blogs for quite some time now, and i have always wanted to know, why are you interested in England? is it the language, way or life?
Have you met an English person?
Dan: Cool, glad to hear it.
Shaun: I think I’m going to go into astrophysics instead of library science. ;) I agree, the audience will come.
Rachel: I’ll do my best. I hear they’re selling profound thoughts for $8.95 at Walmart, but the sale ends tomorrow…
Sarah: Hmm, a good question. :) I think it’s because my favorite books growing up were by British authors (C.S. Lewis, Susan Cooper, Tolkien, etc.), and I love the accent, and I love fog and moors and thatched roofs and the history. Not that England is all thatched roofs, of course. :) And I’ve studied Old English (and I’m taking a Middle English class this fall). But I think the main thing is the feeling of northernness, like C.S. Lewis described (but for him “northern” was more Scandinavian, I think). I’ve met a few English people, yes. And hopefully I’ll be able to get my PhD over at Oxford or Cambridge and thus meet many more. :)
I quite like hearing your opinions or quotes, etc, on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Also, I do enjoy hearing random musings on various topics, anything from buying office supplies (who knew there was more than just me that enjoyed that?) to web site designs/projects you’re working on.
