Two different people came to me today asking about genealogy on the Mac. So of course I told them about Beyond (and I really need to get the website up soon so I can tell people about it), but I feel kind of bad because it’s still vaporware at this stage. But talking to these people really motivates me to get working on it and to make it the best it can be. I’ll try to get the website up this week and post some design docs (and hopefully some UI sketches). As far as the coding goes, I’m still not sure just what kind of user control I’ll be using for the pedigree chart — I envision something like iCal but with the panning and zooming capabilities of Illustrator, but I’ll do several UI tests to see what works best. Perhaps there’s a better way, something that’s never been thought of before. :) Anyway, I suspect I’ll have to code a custom control, which’ll be a new experience. (Side note: I’m writing this on here because I don’t have my new Beyond blog up on Wordpress yet; usually this blog will be for more general programming discussion.)
