How low can you go?

Yesterday in my religion class we sang a hymn (”Redeemer of Israel”) and it happened to be one of the six which I know the bass line for. It was so much fun that I’ve decided to start learning the bass for the rest of the hymns. One a day is a doable goal, and during the summer I’ll be able to hit four or five each day easily. So tonight I learned “How Firm a Foundation” (#85) and it only took ten minutes, which isn’t too bad (but then again the bass line for this song is largely repetitive, hanging out down there on the low A). I also have a hankering to learn the words to more folk songs and carols and such — “Auld Lang Syne”, for example, or “What Child Is This?” or “Mary, Did You Know?” Singing in the shower is only half the fun if you don’t know the words. :)

Haha, “Singing in the shower is only half the fun if you don’t know the words.”, totally true.
